Initial management centers on medical nutrition therapy and structured physical activity. A registered dietitian should tailor an individualized meal plan emphasizing consistent carbohydrate distribution, high-fiber whole foods, lean protein, and healthy fats—while avoiding concentrated sugars and refined carbohydrates. Moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, such as brisk walking or swimming for at least 30 minutes most days of the week, enhances insulin sensitivity and supports postprandial glucose stabilization.
