However, if the rice exhibits a distinctly raw, starchy, or gritty consistency—especially with visible unhydrated cores—simply adding water may not suffice. In such cases, transferring the rice to a pot with fresh water (approximately 1:1.5 rice-to-water ratio) and simmering until fully tender is more reliable.
