Prevention is paramount: optimal outcomes depend on meticulous surgical technique—including low-pressure harvesting, gentle processing (e.g., centrifugation or washing), and multiplanar, low-volume microinjection—to maximize graft survival and minimize focal fat accumulation. Patient selection and preoperative counseling—including discussion of potential complications—are equally critical components of safe, effective fat grafting practice.
