How can testosterone secretion be suppressed?
There is no safe or medically appropriate way to broadly “suppress” testosterone (the primary biologically active androgen in humans) in individuals with normal endocrine function. Non-pharmacologic approaches—such as weight loss in individuals with obesity, management of insulin resistance, or treatment of hyperprolactinemia—may modestly modulate androgen levels when pathologic excess is present (e.g., in polycystic ovary syndrome), but they do not constitute “suppression” in the pharmacologic sense and should be guided by diagnosis-specific evaluation.
