While traditional beliefs in some cultures may associate post-coital chills or cold exposure with serious health consequences—such as “wind-cold invasion” in Traditional Chinese Medicine—these concepts do not correspond to an identifiable, life-threatening condition validated by contemporary biomedical science.

That said, certain infections or physiological stressors could theoretically coincide with such timing—but causation would be coincidental, not mechanistic. For example, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), a serious complication of untreated sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia or gonorrhea, may present with fever, lower abdominal pain, and systemic symptoms; however, its onset is unrelated to environmental cold exposure. Similarly, hypothermia—a potentially fatal drop in core body temperature—can occur after prolonged cold exposure but is not triggered by sexual activity itself.

No peer-reviewed literature supports the existence of a distinct, lethal disease caused solely by becoming chilled after intercourse.
