Dental occlusion is rarely the primary cause in pediatric populations, contrary to longstanding misconception; current evidence does not support malocclusion as a significant etiological factor in childhood bruxism.
Less frequent but clinically important secondary causes warrant consideration if bruxism is new-onset, severe, asymmetric, or accompanied by other neurological signs.
