What Category of Infectious Disease Does Avian Influenza Fall Under?

This classification indicates that avian influenza poses significant public health importance due to its potential for outbreaks, capacity for severe morbidity and mortality—particularly in high-risk populations—and risk of zoonotic transmission from birds to humans.
