These lenses feature a tinted, patterned zone that overlays the iris while leaving the central optical zone clear to preserve unobstructed vision. Importantly, even non-corrective cosmetic lenses require a valid prescription and professional fitting by an ophthalmologist or optometrist. This is because improper fit can lead to serious ocular complications—including corneal hypoxia, epithelial abrasions, microbial keratitis, and chronic dry eye—regardless of whether the lens provides vision correction.
