While a creatinine value over 200 µmol/L (approximately 2.26 mg/dL) may raise concern, its significance depends heavily on factors including age, sex, muscle mass, hydration status, and concurrent medications. For example, a muscular young adult may have a baseline creatinine near 120 µmol/L, whereas an elderly, low-muscle-mass individual might reach 200 µmol/L with only moderate chronic kidney disease (CKD).
