Effective treatment begins with accurate diagnosis: clinicians typically combine clinical evaluation with imaging—including ultrasound or MRI—to assess synovial thickening, effusion, and vascularity—and may perform arthrocentesis to analyze synovial fluid for crystals, infection markers, or inflammatory cells. Blood tests (e.g., ESR, CRP, RF, anti-CCP, uric acid) help differentiate between inflammatory, crystal-induced, infectious, or autoimmune etiologies.
