Scientific studies suggest several potential physiological effects associated with sea cucumber consumption. Preclinical evidence indicates anti-inflammatory activity mediated through inhibition of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways, as well as modulation of pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Their sulfated polysaccharides demonstrate anticoagulant properties comparable to low-molecular-weight heparins in vitro, though clinical relevance remains under investigation.
